Meet the CEO
Vanessa Ezemadu, OT

Vanessa Ezemadu, a proud mother of five, has leveraged her profound personal experiences into a broader advocacy for maternal health care. Her journey began with a series of challenging pregnancies that included three miscarriages and two life-threatening complications, profoundly shaping her commitment to maternal health reform.

During her second pregnancy, Vanessa faced severe complications that were initially overlooked by medical professionals. Despite visiting the hospital three times, her concerns were not taken seriously until the situation became critical, highlighting a significant gap in maternal care responsiveness and sensitivity. Her ordeal continued with her twin boys when she struggled to find an OB-GYN who accepted her insurance and was located a feasible distance from her home. It took months to secure a doctor 45 minutes away, illustrating severe access limitations in maternal healthcare.

These experiences underscored the absence of support from midwives or doulas—key figures Vanessa regards as essential for comprehensive prenatal and postnatal care. Motivated by these challenges, Vanessa earned a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy and directed her focus towards advocating for equitable maternal care.

Founding Mowana Care, Vanessa has pioneered innovative programs that bridge these care gaps. Today, she stands as a leading advocate for maternal health, working relentlessly to ensure that no mother endures the hardships she faced. Mowana Care epitomizes her dedication, striving to provide essential support and advocacy for mothers often overlooked by the traditional medical system. Her mission is clear: to guarantee every mother receives the necessary support and care, ensuring no one navigates motherhood alone.
